Civil wedding at the Rådhuset in Lund: how the day goes
The ceremony takes place on the second floor of the Rådhuset. A ceremony host meets you and shows you to the room. The municipality asks you to arrive in good time, preferably 15 minutes before your slot, because there can be ceremonies both before and after yours. You and your witnesses show valid ID, such as an ID card, passport or driving licence. The municipality writes that the facade is being renovated during 2026 and that the entrance facing Stortorget stays open as usual.
After the ceremony you can write a message in the guest book in the room. The certificate you receive is not a legal document but a keepsake of the day. The municipality sends the marriage certificate form to Skatteverket, which registers the marriage. The guide to the wedding day timeline covers the rest of the day, and the general guide to a civil wedding in Sweden covers officiants.

Getting married elsewhere in Lund: the request and the officiant
If you want to marry somewhere other than the Rådhuset, you send a request through the municipality's form and give the day, the place and how you would like the ceremony. The municipality passes the request on to officiants and replies within about a week. If someone can officiate, you get their contact details and agree the place, time and format directly with them.
The municipality suggests your home, nature or a venue you have booked yourselves. You pay for the officiant's travel to and from the place. The fee is the same as at the Rådhuset: none if you or your partner are registered in Lund municipality, otherwise 1,000 kronor. It is not refunded if you cancel less than two weeks before the wedding. A ceremony outdoors in a public place can need a police permit, and the police decide. The County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen) appoints the officiants, and the municipality's page links to a list for Skåne.
Getting married in Lund in English or without Swedish registration
The ceremony at the Rådhuset is held in Swedish or English, depending on what you ask for when you book. The legal part must always be read in Swedish.
Anyone who is not registered in Sweden sends documents from foreign authorities to Skatteverket, showing that nothing stands in the way of the marriage under Swedish law. The eligibility check is valid for four months and cannot be extended. If neither of you is registered in Lund municipality the fee is 1,000 kronor, also if you live in another Swedish municipality.
After the ceremony: the party and getting there
The room holds at most 15 people, so most guests will not see the ceremony. The party or dinner is what brings everyone together. On a wedding page you add the ceremony and the venue as two places, with a time, an address, a note and a link to the map. The programme has its own list with a calendar link, and if guests need a bus, the times go in a list of their own. The guide to wedding transport has more.
In the RSVP guests say which places they are coming to, so you know how many are at dinner even if only a handful were in the room. The example sites show how such pages can look.
