Wedding videographer in Sweden: choosing a film and who films it

Updated 26 October 2026 · Written by

A wedding video is usually a highlights film of a few minutes, and many couples add the full ceremony and the speeches as separate films. Decide which film you want first. Then ask the videographer what is included, when you get the film and how the music is cleared. Here are the kinds of film, the questions to ask, what the price depends on and what to do if you film it yourselves or let guests do it.

What kinds of wedding video are there?

FilmWhat you getKeep in mind
Highlights filmA short film of the best moments of the day, such as the ceremony, the dinner and the dancing, often with music over it.It is the filmmaker's selection. Say which moments must be in it.
The full ceremonyThe whole ceremony from start to finish, for you and for guests who could not come. The filmmaker needs a spot where they can see both you and the person marrying you.
The speechesEach speech as a film of its own.The sound decides everything. Ask how the speeches are recorded.
The whole dayA longer film that follows the day from the preparations to the dancing.More footage and more editing, which shows in the price.

Questions to ask a wedding videographer

  • What is included?

How many hours the videographer is there, how many people film and which films you get: highlights, full ceremony, speeches.

  • How and when is the film delivered?

Ask about delivery time and format, and put the answer in the agreement.

  • Who may show the film?

Ask whether you may put it online, and whether the videographer may show it in their own channels.

  • How is the music cleared?

A song in a film shown in public may need a licence. Ask whether the music is licensed for your use and whether you may request songs. More ideas are in the guide to wedding songs.

  • How is the sound recorded?

At the ceremony and the speeches. Ask whether the videographer uses their own microphone or the venue's sound system.

Email to a videographer

Hello [name], We are getting married on [date] in [place] and are looking for a videographer. We will be [number] guests, the ceremony starts at [time] and the party ends at [time]. We would like a highlights film and the full ceremony. Could you tell us what is included, what it costs, when we get the film and how you handle the music? Are you available on that date? Kind regards [name]

Wedding videographer price: what does it depend on?

Ask two or three videographers for a quote on the same brief, so that the quotes can be compared. Include the film when you make your budget.

  • Time on site

A few hours around the ceremony is different from the whole day.

  • Number of filmmakers

Two filmmakers see more angles than one, but cost more.

  • Which films you want

A highlights film is one thing. The full ceremony, the speeches and a longer film give more to edit.

  • Travel and date

Ask whether travel costs are included and whether the date affects the price.

  • Delivery and extras

Ask whether raw clips, several versions and a short teaser are included.

A photographer and a videographer together

The photographer and the videographer work in the same places and need to know about each other. Send both the same timeline and say where the ceremony, the group photos and the speeches take place. Ask whether they have worked together before. More about choosing a photographer is in the wedding photographer guide.

To the photographer and the videographer

Hello [photographer] and [videographer], Here is the timeline for [date]. The ceremony starts at [time], the group photos are taken at [time] at [place] and the speeches begin at [time]. Tell us if anything needs to change, so that you do not end up in each other's shot. [name]

Filming the wedding yourselves or with guests' phones

  • Ask one person to take charge

A friend who films the ceremony and the speeches, with a fully charged phone and plenty of storage.

  • Put the phone on a tripod

A still, landscape shot is easier to watch than a hand in motion. Place it near the speaker so the voice carries.

  • Decide whether guests should film

Some couples want a ceremony without phones, others want every clip they can get. Say so in advance.

  • Collect the clips afterwards

Video clips are large files. Decide beforehand where guests should send them, for example a shared folder.

Message to guests

Did you film anything tonight? Send the clip to [place] by [date]. Thank you for being there.

Guests' photos on the wedding website

On the wedding website, guests can upload their photos from the party through a QR code on the tables, and you collect them in one place. That covers photos. The site takes pictures and not video clips, so your wedding film and the guests' clips need another place, such as a shared folder or the videographer's delivery.

How the QR code and the photos work is in the guide to sharing wedding photos, and how to plan the speeches is in the guide to wedding speeches. The example sites have an album of guests' photos.

The wedding video and your website

With Lysela, you collect guests' photos from the party through a QR code on the tables, from Plus. The site takes pictures and not video, so you share the videographer's film and the guests' clips another way. The programme with times and places is on the site, and you can send the same details to the photographer and the videographer.

You pay once, SEK 795, SEK 1,795 or SEK 4,900 including VAT, and the site stays up for 12 months.

What usually goes on a wedding website, and what one costs, is in the checklist.
